On behalf of the Consulate General, I extend my best wishes to the Chinese Canadian Association. Since your founding 17 years ago, your members have made an important contribution to raising the Canadian profile and expanding relations between Hong Kong and Canada. Most recently, I was pleased to participate in a very memorable outing on Lamma Island, organized by the Chinese Canadian Association to celebrate Canada Day.

Mr. Frederick Kan, Chairman of Climax International Company Limited, a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Mr. Frederick Kan was born in a relatively well-to-do family. In the sixties, the turmoil in 1967 led to the first wave of migration from Hong Kong to Canada and that led Fred to Vancouver in 1968 where he subsequently obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Commerce at UBC. After graduation, he gained some valuable banking experience with Imperial Bank of Commerce and Business Development Bank.

On December 11, 2002, CCA held a lunch meeting with our Patron, Mr. Anthony Burger, Bruce Gillies, Consul for political and Economic Relations and Mr. David McNcNamera, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the American Club. During the meeting, member of the new Executive Committee were introduced to the Consul General and this “get-to-know” meeting went well.

CCA made a courtesy call with the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Hong Kong by organizing a dinner with four of its representatives on October 28, 2002 at the American Club. The event was attended by 3 Division Chiefs of its Coordination Department, namely, Mr. Gao Wei Dong, Mr. Chan Shao Bin, Madam Yeung Kim Ling and another representative, Mr. Shi Xin.

The reunion dinner is now scheduled on 29/9 Monday. Please confirm your availability.
